The NBA Finals provided ABC late night programming was a substantial audience bump this past June, highlighted by Jimmy Kimmel Live! becoming late night’s top-rated show for the month among Adults 18-49.
According to Nielsen live-plus-seven data, Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,976,000 total viewers with 288,000 P18-49 for 23 first-run episodes in June 2024. That’s up +9% and +34%, respectively, from the show’s May averages.
While Kimmel won the ad-friendly demo last month, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert continued to average the most total viewers on all of late-night. Per Nielsen live-plus-seven-day data, CBS’ late-night juggernaut averaged 2,478,000 total viewers with 261,000 P18-49 viewers for 12 first-run episodes in June 2024. That’s -2% and -1%, respectively, from the show’s May 2024 averages.
According to Nielsen live-plus-seven-day data, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,333,000 total viewers with 201,000 P18-49 in its 11:35 p.m. timeslot for 12 first-run episodes in June. That’s -10% and -15%, respectively, from its May averages in those measurements.
The 12:35 a.m. late night ratings race was neck-and-neck in June, specifically when it came to the P18-49 demo.
NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers came out on top in its timeslot in June, both in total viewers and among Adults 18-49. The show presented 12 first-run episodes, which drew an average of 974,000 total viewers and 144,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-seven data. Unfortunately, that’s -9% and -19%, respectively, from the show’s May 2024 averages.
CBS’ After Midnight averaged 688,000 total viewers and 141,000 P18-49 for its 12 first-run episodes in June, according Nielsen live-plus-seven data. That’s -3% in total viewers but flat in P18-49 viewers from May.
Per Nielsen live-plus-seven-day data, ABC’s Nightline averaged 917,000 total viewers with 143,000 P18-49 viewers for 23 first-run episodes in June. That’s up +8% in total viewers and +19% in P18-49 from May.
Lastly, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show posted month-to-month gains. The show’s 1,034,000 total viewers average is up +7% from May, and its 186,000 P18-49 viewer average is +4% from May.
