Those waiting for Josh Johnson’s latest project outside The Daily Show won’t have to wait long.
The comedian plans to debut Freshman 15: A Stand Up Comedy Film Tuesday night on YouTube, he shared on Instagram. The project goes behind the scenes with Johnson as he ended his 2023 stand-up run, “The Freshman Tour,” at The Bell House in Brooklyn.
The Daily Show correspondent, who’s been prolific on social media and earned 1.6 million followers on TikTok, has lately been focusing on YouTube as a distribution method. Every Tuesday night, he premieres a new recorded set on the platform via a live premiere.

Just two weeks ago, Johnson dropped a 30-minute standup set that quickly climbed into YouTube’s top trending videos list. It has now passed 1.2 million views.
He asked fans to help him fight the online algorithm to get this new special an audience, noting of Instagram and Facebook’s parent company in a post, “Meta doesn’t love when I share links directly.”
“Last year we embarked on the biggest tour I had done (up until this one),” Johnson explained of the Freshman Tour on his social channels. “So much was changing about my life and my outlook on comedy I decided to document a little bit of it to share.”
The comedian went on to praise his collaborators on the project, writing, “The team that worked on this project are some of the most dedicated, generous and genuine creators and artists I know.”
Johnson is currently wrapping up his next tour, “Sophomore Season,” before embarking in 2025 on “The Flowers Tour.”
“The Flowers tour is about giving as many metaphorical, and literal, flowers to the world as possible,” he wrote on Instagram. “We’ve all heard of giving someone their flowers that we admire, but what about each other, and people we haven’t even met yet?”
Johnson first appeared on The Daily Show in October 2023, and was confirmed as a full-fledged correspondent earlier this year. He’d been writing for the show since 2017.
