The Daily Show is taking a rare detour away from its usual menu of authors and politicians this week with an all-celebrity guest lineup, starting tonight when Jon Stewart welcomes ESPN host Stephen A. Smith to the Comedy Central series.
Smith, who’s previously expressed an interest in hosting his own late-night show is no stranger to the time period, having guested on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. This will be his first appearance on The Daily Show .
Daily Show senior correspondent Desi Lydic will then take over as host tomorrow through Thursday. Her last week behind the anchor desk came in early May.
Bryan Cranston will be Lydic’s guest Tuesday. The Breaking Bad star will be promoting his new film Everything’s Going to Be Great, which premieres tonight at The Tribeca Film Festival and is set to release in theaters Friday June 20th.
On Wednesday, Lydic will host comedian Atsuko Okatsuka, whose new comedy special, Father, premieres Thursday on Hulu
The Daily Show will then close out the week on Thursday with Lydic’s guest, actor, writer and comedian Jeff Hiller (HBO’s Somebody Somewhere), whose new collection of autobiographical essays, titled Actress of a Certain Age, hits bookstores this week.
