For the first time since beginning a five-week summer break in late July, The Daily Show is set to produce a full four-night week, with Jon Stewart returning to his usual Monday night perch tonight.
It will be Stewart’s first Monday night episode since July 27. He returned from the show’s summer hiatus with a rare Tuesday appearance on September 8, then sat out last week when The Daily Show went dark Monday to allow its staff to attend the Emmys in Los Angeles.
Stewart and Desi Lydic will share hosting duties this week, with Lydic taking over the desk Tuesday through Thursday.
Stewart kicks off the week Monday with Ari Emanuel, executive chairman of WME Group and executive chair and CEO of TKO, who will promote his memoir Roll the Calls.
On Tuesday, Lydic will welcome musician Tom Morello, who will discuss his album Everyone Gets Everything They Want and the Power to the People Festival.
Wednesday’s guest is Fox News’ The Five co-host and Raging Moderates co-host Jessica Tarlov, who will promote her book I Disagree: Winning Arguments Without Losing Friends.
Lydic will wrap up the week Thursday with actor Merritt Wever, who will promote the film Primetime.
Lydic returns to the desk fresh off another Emmy win for The Daily Show: Desi Lydic Foxsplains, earning Outstanding Performer in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for the second year in a row. The win was Lydic’s fourth career Emmy.
This week’s run will mark her seventh week hosting the show this year, putting her ahead of Michael Kosta and Jordan Klepper, who have each hosted six weeks. Josh Johnson has hosted five, while Ronny Chieng has hosted four.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
