After selling out more than two dozen shows to date, Seth Meyers and John Oliver are extending their dual residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre through the end of the year.
In addition to two remaining, already-scheduled shows (limited tickets are available for May 31 and June 14), the two late-night hosts will return for four new performances on September 27, October 25, November 22, and December 13.
Oliver and Meyers first performed together at the Beacon during the 2023 Writers’ Strike. Several months later, in January 2024, they launched their residency at the storied Manhattan venue.
Each show features a 45–50 minute standup set from both comics, followed by a joint Q&A session with the audience.
Though both hosts maintain full-time late-night gigs, they continue to carve out time for standup. Oliver has earned much acclaim (and every Emmy in sight) for HBO’s Last Week Tonight, but in a recent 60 Minutes profile, he called the standup stage his “favorite place to be.”
For his part, Meyers has said he values the different kind of muscle that goes into crafting a standup set compared to preparing a nightly monologue that draws from the day’s news. With standup, he explained, “the goal is for it to have a little bit more permanence than late night has. You are trying to find universal themes and ideas that are really funny.”
