Don’t hold your breath, but Jimmy Kimmel hasn’t closed the door to having former president Donald Trump on his show.
The late-night comic has been one of Trump’s most visible critics, and has frequently drawn the ire of the former president, who once called him a “wacko last-place loser.”
Still, asked by CNN in an interview published Friday whether he’d welcome Trump back as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel replied “I would absolutely have him on the show.”
He went on to say of Trump, “there are a lot of questions I would like to ask him, and I would like to get actual answers. I think most of the interviews that he does don’t require those.”
It wouldn’t be Trump’s first time on the show. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! four times before he was president, most recently in 2016 when he was running against Hillary Clinton.
As for whether we can expect any Trump jokes from Kimmel at this Sunday’s Oscars, Kimmel told CNN he’s not planning to touch on politics, but allowed that “there might be something that pops up and I put it in at the last minute.”
