Donald Trump has got some competition for leader of The Billionaires Who Hate Jimmy Kimmel Club. And, as usual, the late-night host is lapping up the vitriol.
On Thursday, Elon Musk took to Twitter/X to call out Kimmel for being “an insufferable nonsense propaganda puppet.” The comment was made in response to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host’s emotional Wednesday night monologue, in which he stated that election night in America had been “a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard working immigrants… for health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, [and] for free speech.”
Kimmel, never one to back down from a fight, hit back at Musk Thursday night—beginning with: “At least my children like me.” But really, it was the hypocrisy of Musk’s insult that got to Kimmel.
“I have to take issue with that,” Kimmel continued. “The guy who paid people $1 million a day to vote for Donald Trump is calling me a propaganda puppet. Listen, Kermit: You bought Twitter. You bought a social media platform that is literally a propaganda machine.”
Kimmel went on to say that “If I spent two weeks trying to come up with a four-word description of Elon Musk, I don’t think I could do better than ‘insufferable nonsense propaganda puppet.'”
Kimmel can at least rest easy knowing that he’s in good company with other sources Musk has described as “propaganda”—a list that includes The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Associated Press, and NPR.
“Everything is propaganda to Elon Musk,” Kimmel concluded.
