First on LateNighter: Bruce Springsteen has dropped out of Tuesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Brooklyn, with Amy Schumer added to the lineup in his place.
Springsteen had been scheduled to join Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello for both an interview and musical performance on the September 29 show, but has canceled his appearance. It wasn’t immediately clear why.
Morello remains on the bill and is now set to perform solo, while Schumer has been added as an interview guest. Howard Stern is also set to sit down with Kimmel Tuesday night.
It will mark Schumer’s first visit with Jimmy Kimmel since 2022 and her eighth appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! overall.
Tuesday is the second of five shows Kimmel is taping this week from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House. The run begins Monday with Pete Davidson, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and musical guest TV on the Radio.
Wednesday’s show will feature Billy Crystal and Mahershala Ali, with De La Soul performing. John Oliver and Seth Meyers are set to visit together Thursday, along with comedian Robby Hoffman.

Springsteen and Morello had been booked on Kimmel in connection with the Power to the People Music Festival, which Morello is curating next weekend at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.
Billed as a “non-partisan celebration of peace, justice, solidarity, music, and community action,” the one-day festival was conceived to highlight collective civic action ahead of the midterm elections.
At press time, Springsteen remained listed as a special guest for the October 3 festival, which also features Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, and others.
