Anyone who hasn’t found their “Christmas ding-dong” yet has another chance. Jimmy Fallon’s holiday special is getting a primetime rebroadcast this Wednesday on NBC.
Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular was released in conjunction with the Tonight Show host’s new holiday album, Holiday Seasoning. The special features performances of many of the tracks from the album, strung together by the narrative thread of Fallon being in search of a Christmas spirit-like concept called the “Christmas ding-dong.” Comedian JB Smoove guest stars to help Fallon on his quest, as do many of the artists who collaborated with Fallon on Holiday Seasoning.
Among the guest performers featured in the special are Jonas Brothers, Justin Timberlake, Meghan Trainor, Dolly Parton, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and, of course, The Roots.
Fallon’s musical special originally aired on December 4, following NBC’s annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting broadcast. Holiday Seasoning Spectacular was a ratings boon for NBC, drawing more viewers than the programming on ABC and CBS combined.
Viewers who watch Wednesday’s rebroadcast of the special will want to stick around for the new episode of The Tonight Show later that night, which is set to resurrect a late-night tradition when Darlene Love performs her Christmas classic “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” Love famously performed the song on a near-annual basis on David Letterman’s late-night shows starting in 1986.
Since the original airing of Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular, Fallon has spiced up his Holiday Seasoning album by surprise-releasing a deluxe edition with nine more tracks added to the mix.
Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular re-airs Wednesday at 8pm ET on NBC, and is also available to stream on Peacock.
