After making their game day debut on NBC’s Super Bowl pregame show, Jimmy Fallon’s Puppy Predictors have officially made their pick.
Appearing at the top of the second hour of NBC’s Super Bowl coverage, the prognosticating pups selected the New England Patriots as their choice to win Super Bowl LX.
The segment marked the first time Fallon’s long-running Puppy Predictors bit aired as part of the network’s official Super Bowl pregame broadcast, rather than on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
As usual, the setup was simple: two bowls of food, each representing one of the competing teams. Once released, the golden retriever puppies made a beeline for their preferred option. This time, the Patriots’ bowl proved to be the clear favorite.
As we’ve previously reported, the segment was prerecorded Thursday night.
The Puppy Predictors have been a staple of Fallon’s show for years, with the host regularly enlisting the pups to forecast outcomes ranging from the Super Bowl to March Madness and the Academy Awards. But while the segment has become a fan favorite, its accuracy record is mixed.
In fact, entering this year’s game, Fallon’s puppies had correctly picked just three of the past ten Super Bowl winners. Their most recent success came in 2021, when they accurately predicted a Tampa Bay Buccaneers victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
For Fallon, it’s another example of how The Tonight Show continues to integrate itself into NBC’s broader sports ecosystem—following recent Sunday night episodes tied to Sunday Night Football and special editions built around the network’s NBA coverage.
As for the puppies, their work for this season is done. Now, it’s up to the Patriots to prove whether Fallon’s most adorable analysts finally got it right.
