Jimmy Fallon Cancels Planned NYC Appearance After Kimmel News

It seems Jimmy Fallon isn’t ready just yet to weigh in on ABC’s decision to indefinitely preempt Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show—or on President Trump’s suggestion that NBC should do the same with Fallon and Seth Meyers.

The Tonight Show host had been slated to appear at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City this morning to promote his upcoming marketing competition series, On Brand with Jimmy Fallon. But at the last minute, organizers announced that Fallon would not be attending, leaving his planned co-panelist (and On Brand co-host) Bozoma Saint John to take the stage solo.

“Unfortunately, Jimmy Fallon is no longer able to attend today’s session,” the festival said in a notice to attendees, adding that the “exciting session will still proceed” without him.

Fast Company offered a bit more context in a statement to CNN correspondent Hadas Gold: “In light of recent events, Jimmy couldn’t be here. But we were so happy to have Bozoma Saint John.”

Fallon’s abrupt withdrawal followed yesterday’s shock announcement that ABC would be pulling Fallon’s competitor Kimmel from the air indefinitely, after a right-wing media uproar over a remark in his Monday night monologue about “the MAGA gang” and its reaction to emerging details about Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer.

Fallon wasn’t spared from the controversy when President Donald Trump took aim at the Tonight Show host on Truth Social while celebrating Kimmel’s removal.

“Great News for America: The ratings-challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible,” Trump posted. “That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.”

Fallon won’t be out of the spotlight for long. He’s set to tape a new Tonight Show tonight with actor Jude Law, NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas, and a performance by the Broadway production Just in Time.
