Jimmy Fallon and Cher’s Turkey Medley Wins Thanksgiving Night

NBC’s late night shows have made it a tradition to serve up fresh programming Thanksgiving night, and Jimmy Fallon didn’t disappoint this year, with a friendly assist from a music (and TV) icon.

Thursday night’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon kicked off with a cold open of the host performing a medley of duets with none other than Cher. Dubbed The Turkettes, the duo performed renditions of some of some of Cher’s greatest hits for “Gobble Medley: Cher Edition.”

As the title suggests, the sketch found Fallon and Cher dressed as turkeys and replacing each lyric with “bok” or “gobble”. The pair performed snippets of Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe,” and Cher’s solo hits “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Believe.”

The bit was presumably taped when Cher appeared on The Tonight Show on November 18 to promote her new book Cher: The Memoir: Part One, and announced her new album. On that episode, Cher did another sketch with Fallon: “The Tim and Tam Variety Hour.”

Fallon and Cher have collaborated quite a bit on comedy pieces recently. A year ago, Cher roasted Fallon in an installment of “Freezer Secrets” when guesting on the show. Two weeks later, she returned to The Tonight Show for a surprise walkout, where she participated in the spit-filled “Point Pleasant Police Department.”

Fallon’s lineup for Thanksgiving night also included Jerry Seinfeld (featuring a cameo by his wife, cookbook author Jessica Seinfeld), wrestler Cody Rhodes, and musician Billy Strings.
