Is Taylor Swift Hinting at an SNL Cameo This Weekend?

Could the day in the life of a showgirl include a stop at Saturday Night Live? A close read of Taylor Swift’s schedule for her big album release weekend is fueling rumors that she might pop up on SNL’s season premiere.

With Swift’s twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, set to hit shelves and streaming platforms late Thursday, the music mega-star posted a “Time Card of a Showgirl” to social media.

The schedule lays out all the tentpole events celebrating the record release, including video premieres, the theatrical debut of The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, and her upcoming talk show appearances.

But it’s an unnamed event that’s drawn the most attention: the word “standby” printed in the middle of an otherwise empty Saturday night.

Though SNL’s season premiere has already booked its host (Bad Bunny) and musical guest (Doja Cat), there’s reason to believe Swift could drop in on the show. She’s already owning NBC late night next week with a Monday appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and a Wednesday night “Taykover” of Late Night with Seth Meyers—so what’s one more visit to 30 Rock?

Swift also has a long history with Saturday Night Live. She hosted the show in 2009, has served as musical guest five times, and has even made surprise cameos twice before.

In 2014, she popped in during host Seth Rogen’s monologue. And in 2023, she dropped by to introduce musical guest Ice Spice. (Future fiancé Travis Kelce was also in the studio for a separate cameo in that episode.)

Saturday Night Live premieres its 51st season this Saturday, October 4th at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
