Hulu Sets May Release Date for Chloe Fineman’s Summer of 69

Summer is coming early this year for Saturday Night Live‘s Chloe Fineman.

Hulu has given a release date to the Hulu Original comedy Summer of 69—one of Fineman’s first major film roles. The film will hit the platform on May 9th.

Summer of 69 sees Fineman play Santa Monica, an exotic dancer hired by an awkward high schooler to help seduce her lifelong crush before graduation. Per Hulu, Santa Monica—“a talented dancer with a wild side”—offers the high schooler a “crash course on confidence” that leads to them forging an unlikely friendship. (Sam Morelos—most recently seen in That ‘90s Show—plays the high schooler.)

Fineman is joined in the cast by two SNL alums: former cast member Alex Moffat and former writer Paula Pell. Pell plays Betty, the owner of Diamond Dolls, the club Santa Monica works at that’s facing foreclosure. Moffat appears as DJ Don, the club’s DJ.

The SNL connections don’t end there. Summer of 69 is written and directed by Jillian Bell, who makes her directorial debut with the project. Bell was a member of the SNL writing staff from 2009-2010. Describing her movie to TheWrap, Bell said it “poses as a typical teen comedy… then it shifts into this unique, hilarious and touching film about female friendship.”

Fineman signed onto the project last summer, fresh off her dramatic role in the Francis Ford Coppola epic Megalopolis. Summer of 69 world premieredeat SXSW this past February.

Fineman is set to wrap her sixth season on SNL on May 17.
