One of Heated Rivalry fans’ most fervent wishes came true when first-time Saturday Night Live host Connor Storrie was joined by Hudson Williams, his scene partner on the Canadian series.
On Heated Rivalry, the buzzy sports romance that streams on Crave (in Canada) and HBO Max, Williams plays Shane Hollander, the Japanese-Canadian captain of the Montreal Metros pro hockey team, to Storrie’s Ilya Grigoryevich Rozanov, the Russian captain of the Boston Raiders. As the series’ title suggests, the two start off as professional rivals, until things get heated, in the best of ways, on the deeply personal front.
In one of the sketches on this weekend’s SNL, Veronika Slowikowska and Tommy Brennan played a couple that was trying to sort through a very serious relationship issue, though the guy couldn’t help but be distracted by a downright joyous group of fortysomething men skating on the rink behind them. Among said group of fellas was Danny, played by Storrie.
Eventually, Mikey Day’s skater remarks to the others, “Look who finally showed up…,” pointing off-screen. Storrie’s Danny then bellows, “Hudson!!!” as Williams skates into frame.
The studio audience’s reaction may have blown out your speakers at home, a veritable eruption of screams, cheers, and applause that lasted a full 30 seconds.
Once the ruckus died down, Hudson said, “Sorry I’m late, fellas. But I have a serious question…. Who’s ready to skate their butts off?!”
Answer: they all were. And they did.

A bit later in the episode. Williams also joined Storrie in introducing musical guest Mumford & Sons, who were joined by Hozier for their first performance:

Hollywood needs to create a biopic of Steve Perry and Hudson Williams needs to be the one to portray him.
