Tonight Show Lands Three Olympic Hockey Gold Medalists for Monday

Once again demonstrating that “The Tonight Show is where champions go,” a veritable hat trick of Olympic gold medalists will visit with Jimmy Fallon this Monday night.

Earlier this morning, the news broke that Quinn Hughes and his brother Jack Hughes—both of whom helped the United States’ men’s hockey team grab gold at this month’s Winter Olympics—would appear on The Tonight Show March 2. (Quinn will also cameo on this weekend’s SNL.)

NBC has since announced that Hilary Knight, captain of the gold medal-winning women’s hockey team, will be a part of that same sit-down interview.

Relations between the two Olympic hockey teams were unexpectedly tested earlier this week when President Trump, during a post-game phone call with the men, joked that he’d also have to invite the women to the White House and State of the Union Address—lest he get “impeached.” Some of the men players laughed along.

Asked about the perceived slight, women’s team captain and five-time Olympic medalist Knight said to ESPN, “It was sort of a distasteful joke, and unfortunately, that is overshadowing a lot of the success of women at the Olympics carrying for Team USA and having amazing gold medal feats.”

Knight actually made her late-night TV debut eight years ago, when she appeared on Saturday Night Live on the heels of the women’s hockey team besting Canada to grab gold at the Winter Olympics in Pyongyang. There, Knight joined Olympics superfan Leslie Jones as a “Weekend Update” guest, to drive home for co-anchor Colin Just that girls “run the world.”

Monday’s The Tonight Show will also feature guests Nicole Kidman (star of Prime Video’s Scarpetta) and Luke Thompson (Bridgerton), plus a cooking demo by Chef Mario Carbone.
