Note: LateNighter generally posts late night weekly live-plus-seven quarterly ratings on a seven (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.
Final Q2 2024 Nielsen data has arrived, and a familiar offering is holding steady at the top of the late-night ratings heap: CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Excluding rebroadcasts, The Late Show averaged 2,527,000 total viewers with 270,000 P18-49 viewers in the second quarter of 2024, per Nielsen live-plus-seven-day data. That’s No. 1 among all late-night shows in those respective measurements, but -2% in total viewers and -6% in P18-49 viewers from the previous quarter (Q1 2024).
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! leapfrogged its 11:35 p.m. NBC counterpart into second place among P18-49, while remaining second in average total viewers for Q2 ’24.
Excluding rebroadcasts, ABC’s 11:35 p.m. offering averaged 1,899,000 total viewers with 244,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-seven data for Q2. Aided a bit by a June NBA Finals lead-in, Kimmel saw gains of +10% in total viewers and +23% in P18-49 in Q2 from Q1 ’24.
Excluding rebroadcasts, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,417,000 total viewers with 222,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-seven data for Q2 ’24. That places Fallon in third place at 11:35 p.m. behind CBS and ABC in the key audience measurements. The Tonight Show’s 222,000 P18-49 viewer average is -3% from the previous quarter, and its 1,417,000 total viewer average is -1% from the previous quarter.
Fallon might have finished third in its timeslot, but NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers beat its ABC and CBS competition at 12:35 a.m., both in total viewers and among P18-49. Excluding rebroadcasts, Meyers averaged 1,021,000 total viewers with 157,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-seven data for Q2 ’24. That’s up +5% and +4%, respectively, from Q1.
Excluding rebroadcasts, CBS’ After Midnight averaged 689,000 total viewers with 148,000 P18-49 viewers in Q2, per Nielsen live-plus-seven data. That’s -8% and -12%, respectively, from its Q1 ’24 averages. After Midnight launched on CBS in Q1.
ABC News’ half-hour offering Nightline posted its second consecutive quarter of linear audience growth, averaging 880,000 total viewers with 130,000 P18-49 in Q2 ’24, per Nielsen live-plus-seven data. That’s +1% and +8%, respectively, from the show’s Q1 averages in those measurements.
Comedy Central’s longest-running show, The Daily Show, predictably saw quarter-to-quarter viewer losses after an impressive Q1 which featured the return of Jon Stewart.
The Daily Show averaged 1,006,000 total viewers with 185,000 P18-49 viewers in Q2 ’24, per Nielsen live-plus-same-seven data. That’s -14% and -15%, respectively, from Q1 ’24.
*With the exception of The Daily Show, each of these late night offerings air five nights a week. Only first-run episode data is included in the averages below. Rebroadcasts and specials are excluded.

I know it comes on at 10P and not 11P but you should include the performance of Greg Gutfeld on Fox News. His target is the same as these shows.
