Nielsen data for the second quarter of 2024 continues to roll in, and we can safely report that Fox News Channel’s late-night-style show Gutfeld! averaged the most total viewers for a quarter in the show’s history.
According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data (and excluding specials and rebroadcasts), Gutfeld! averaged 2,236,000 total viewers at 10 p.m. in Q2. That’s up +3% from Q1 ’24 (2,174,000) and +32% from the year-ago quarter (1,696,000), when the program was still airing at 11 p.m.
In addition to hitting a record-high in total viewers for a quarter, Gutfeld! , which debuted in 2021, holds the title of cable news’ top-rated show among viewers under 55. The program averaged 292,000 P25-54 (the TV news demo) and 169,000 P18-49 (the cable entertainment demo) in Q2 ’24, per live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen.
While finishing No. 1 among P25-54 and P18-49 is certainly an achievement, Gutfeld! did shed viewers from those demos in Q2. The program fell by -3% in the P25-54 demo, and -12% in the P18-49 demo from Q1. Gutfeld! out-performed the year-ago quarter (Q2 ’23), however, improving by +20% in P25-54 and +13% in P18-49.
