Jimmy Kimmel is set to return to Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight with both Hollywood star power and a politically charged musical guest.
Actor Glen Powell, originally scheduled for Monday night’s canceled taping, has been moved to Tuesday’s show. The Top Gun: Maverick and Hit Man star is one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors and will headline Kimmel’s first episode back.
Singer Sarah McLachlan will also appear, marking her first televised performance since pulling out of a scheduled set at the Los Angeles premiere of the ABC News documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery – The Untold Story. The film, now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, explores the groundbreaking women’s festival she co-founded in the late 1990s.
At the premiere, McLachlan said she was canceling her performance in solidarity with Kimmel, after ABC pulled his show last week under pressure from the Trump administration’s Federal Communications Commission.
“I’ve grappled with being here tonight and around what to say about the present situation that we are all faced with,” McLachlan told the audience. “The stark contraction to the many advances we’ve made, watching the insidious erosion of women’s rights, of trans and queer rights, the muzzling of free speech.”
McLachlan’s decision drew attention online and among attendees, with several other scheduled performers also declining to appear. Her performance on Kimmel’s return show will follow that protest, adding a pointed layer of context to the broadcast.
