Get to Know New SNL Cast Member Veronika Slowikowska

Veronika Slowikowska will soon be a new addition to the opening credits of Saturday Night Live, but she’s already a familiar face to many on social media. Like Jane Wickline and Please Don’t Destroy before her, Slowikowska is the latest in a growing line of viral content creators SNL has welcomed into the fold.

Slowikowska, who was born and raised in Ontario, is SNL‘s first new Canadian cast hire since Norm Macdonald and the only woman among the five new performers joining the show this season

But Slowikowska is already known by fans for more than just those firsts. She has built a large online following, with over 1 million followers on Instagram and nearly 700,000 on TikTok. Her videos—often created with comedian Kyle Chase—regularly rack up millions of views, with some reaching as high as 20 million.

The popularity of her sketches has also led to paid brand partnerships with companies like Cashapp, Celsius, and Truly.

With Chase, she co-hosted the podcast Nevermind, which announced an indefinite hiatus last week. She has also appeared on popular comedy podcasts, including David Cross’ Senses Working Overtime and Rick Glassman’s Take Your Shoes Off—where she recently seemed to inadvertantly hint at the then-unannounced SNL news.

Outside her viral fame, Slowikowska is perhaps best recognized for her recurring role as Shanice on FX’s horror-comedy What We Do in the Shadows, appearing in five episodes between 2019 and 2020.

In recent years, she has also starred in Canadian streaming series such as Homeschooled, EZRA, and Davey & Jonesie’s Locker. Stateside, her work has put her just a step away from SNL. Earlier this year, she had a recurring role in Season 2 of Shane Gillis’ Netflix series Tires. And, like fellow new cast member Ben Marshall, she also appeared in an episode of Poker Face.

Ever the multi-hyphenate, Slowikowska is also a singer. Several years ago, she released two singles—“So Many Lies” and “Homesick”—as part of a project with The Heartland Network.

Slowikowska is set to make her Saturday Night Live debut when the show returns on Saturday, October 4.
