Fallon Switches Up Tonight Show Schedule for Cannes Trip

Jimmy Fallon is taking a rare mid-week break for a quick jaunt to France, but he’ll be back at the helm of The Tonight Show later this week.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will air a rerun Wednesday night, June 18, while the host is traveling, but will be back with a new episode on Thursday. Fallon taped two episodes of his show yesterday, ensuring a fresh Tuesday episode can air tonight.

Fallon is headed to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, where he’s scheduled to appear on a panel to tout his upcoming NBC business competition series, On Brand with Jimmy Fallon. Fallon will host and executive produce the series, set to premiere on NBC on Tuesday, September 30th.

Titled “The Late-Night Hustle: From Comedic Gold to a Business Empire,” Fallon will sit for a 30-minute conversation alongside Bozoma Saint John, who will also appear on On Brand as a mentor, judge, and Chief Marketing Officer. The conversation will be moderated by Savannah Guthrie of Today. Per an event description, Fallon will discuss “his journey of partnering with global brands, building a business empire, and helping other brands achieve high-impact results through the power of storytelling.”

Fallon shared a video message to his Instagram followers while en route to the festival. “We’re going to talk to different panels about On Brand and The Tonight Show, and then I’m going to fly back and we have a new show on Thursday,” he said. “I’ll be back in New York and ready to go this Thursday.”

Thursday’s show will feature guests Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Lionel Boyce, and Keke Palmer—Fallon’s partner in another NBC venture, Password.

While Wednesday’s episode is a rerun, The Tonight Show will stick to its usual plan of airing a rerun on Friday as well, giving Fallon only three new shows this week.
