California Congressman Eric Swalwell is calling out Greg Gutfeld—not for his politics, but for his pecs
Earlier today, Swalwell challenged the Fox News host to a high-stakes bench press contest. The stakes? Their jobs.
“Here’s a deal for @Gutfeldfox. (Never heard of him til he spent 8 mins criticizing what I bench press),” Swalwell wrote on X. “The deal: if tough guy benches more than me for 10 reps I’ll leave Congress. If not, he leaves Fox News. I’ll give Greg 48 hrs to accept, then I’m calling him GUTLESSfeld.”
The flex-off was sparked by a segment on Tuesday night’s Gutfeld!, where the host mocked a video of Swalwell lifting weights. After playing a clip of the Congressman on the bench press, Gutfeld joked, “With a bench press like that, no one will mind if you use the women’s locker room.”
It’s not known whether Gutfeld lifts weights, but as one commenter on Swalwell’s X post pointed out, Gutfeld once served as editor-in-chief at Men’s Health magazine, suggesting that “he may know a thing or two about pressing .”
If the Fox News host were to accept Swalwell’s challenge, it wouldn’t be the first time a political figure and a late-night personality have taken their trash talk from screen to sport. Back in 2018, Ted Cruz challenged Jimmy Kimmel to a one-on-one charity basketball game that Kimmel readily accepted. But while that matchup ended with Cruz narrowly defeating Kimmel, the stakes in a theoretical Swalwell-Gutfeld bench press challenge are, in theory, far greater.
As of press time, Gutfeld had not responded to Swalwell’s post.

Kick his ass Eric!
