Rumor has it that Saturday Night Live has solidified some big plans for its 50th season—at least according to DeuxMoi.
The popular celebrity gossip account on Instagram recently shared an anonymous tipster’s updates on SNL’s upcoming 50th season, including who’s joining the cast and who’s expected to host.
The source alleges three new featured players will join the cast next season, “one of whom has a commitment to Second City and will be joining in January.”
According to the informant, the Season 50 premiere “will be hosted by either Glen Powell or Nikki Glaser, but the musical guest is confirmed to be Chappell Roan.” While it would be easy to write all of this off as clickbait or outright misinformation, just this weekend, Glaser told Deadline that she and her team have been speaking with SNL about a potential hosting gig.
“There’s interest, I think. I think I can say that,” Glaser told the outlet. “I’m being looked at in that light, and I think I would kill it, and I’m excited for the opportunity if it happens. If it doesn’t happen, I’m also excited to not have to do that as well, because I hear it’s very stressful and a lot of work.”
According to the tipster, other hosts allegedly set for the front half of the season include Natasha Lyonne, former cast member Kyle Mooney, and Simone Biles (which is one choice LateNighter’s Bill Carter would certainly be on board with). Also on that list is Dylan O’Brien, who plays Dan Aykroyd in the upcoming SNL biopic Saturday Night.
One other SNL alum is also mentioned as a possible host: “Eddie Murphy is in negotiations to host the Christmas show,” the tipster wrote, “exactly five years after he came back.”
“Taylor Swift is in talks to be his musical guest,” they added.
The DeuxMoi submission also claims four featured players are being elevated to repertory status: Marcello Hernández, Michael Longfellow, Chloe Troast, and Devon Walker. Troast has been with SNL for one season, while the others have been on for two. The move would make Troast the first cast member to be promoted within a year since Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong in 2013.
Like all of DeuxMoi’s info, these claims are unconfirmed rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt—at least until SNL formally announces its cast and first few hosts ahead of the show’s September 28 premiere.
