Craig Ferguson Is Plotting a Late Night Return

It’s been nearly ten years since Craig Ferguson bid farewell as the host of CBS’ The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, but perhaps spurred on by Jon Stewart’s success back at the Daily Show, the former LateNighter is eying a return.

In an interview last week with the Spokane Spokesman-Review, the Scottish comedian spilled that he’s in talks to lead up a new late-night talk show, although like Stewart, not on a nightly basis.

“I have meetings next week in Los Angeles for a show,” Ferguson said.“I’m considering doing a show but I just don’t want to do one every day. I like doing a talk show, but not enough to do it every single day.”

Ferguson hasn’t shied away from the limelight since leaving The Late Late Show. He won two Daytime Emmys for his work hosting the Celebrity Name Game, hosts the “Joy” podcast for iHeartMedia, and regularly performs stand-up across the country.

In January of 2023, Ferguson taped a pilot for a syndicated half hour series called Channel Surf with Craig Ferguson, which featured him reviewing the week’s most interesting TV moments with a celebrity panel. It, too, was aimed at a late-night audience. It’s not clear whether this is the same series he’s currently shopping around.

Ferguson hosted The Late Late Show from January 2005-December 2014. The 30-year CBS franchise came to end after Ferguson’s successor, James Corden, stepped down last year.
