Colbert’s Late Show to Air Live Thursday Following State of the Union

Stephen Colbert is set to air another live edition of The Late Show this Thursday following Joe Biden’s third State of the Union Address.

Colbert made the announcement Monday night on The Late Show, joking that “when we’re live and I f— up, we can’t change it… like bleeping the word f—. It’s exciting.”

His guests Thursday are set to include CBS News Primetime anchor John Dickerson and musical guest De La Soul.

The decision to air Thursday’s show live appears to have made Monday, as the show’s guest list for the episode was updated early Tuesday mornning. (Colbert’s originally scheduled guests Thursday had been Ricky Martin, Michael Imperioli, and Manuel Turizo & Yandel.)

This will be the show’s 48th live broadcast, including two live episodes that aired on Showtime on Election Day in 2016 and 2020 (Colbert and team won an Emmy for the latter). The show’s last live broadcast aired on 11/8/22 for the midterm elections.
