It’s official: Jimmy Fallon‘s Tonight Show is the preferred late-night show of BTS band members striking out on their own.
Like Jimin and Suga before him him, South Korean singer songwriter Jin will make his solo debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon next Wednesday, November 20th.
Though it’ll be his first time on his own in Studio 6B, Jin has appeared on The Tonight Show multiple times with BTS in 2018, 2020 and 2021, including the time Fallon and the band took over Grand Central Station.
Known for his high notes, Jin’s first solo album, titled Happy, releases in the U.S. this Friday, November 15. “I’ll Be There,” the first single off the six-track album was released late last month. Jin has described the rockabilly-styled single as an homage to BTS fans. He co-produced the song alongside American singer-songwriter MAX.
Jin is the last of the seven members of BTS to release a solo project.
The band itself is currently on hiatus as its members perform the mandatory 18-21 months of military service required of young South Korean men. (Jin was the first of the group to complete his service this past summer.)
In a teaser video revealing Jin’s solo Tonight Show debut next week (above), BTS superfan Fallon can be seen opening an envelope marked “top secret” and inserting an old-school floppy disk marked “special guest” into a Windows 95-era PC. The Tonight Show host reacts with delight after an image of the South Korean pop star slowly comes into full view as the high-tempo focus track from Jin’s new album, titled “Running Wild,” is heard.
