Jimmy Kimmel got to the heart—er, hair—of the matter with a Tuesday night interview.
Towards the end of his latest monologue, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host cued up a viral video of heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller literally having his hairpiece get knocked off during his split decision win over Kingsley Ibeh at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The dis-tressing moment came in Round 2 of the Saturday night fight, when Ibeh threw a right uppercut that effectively dislodged the toupee from Miller’s head.
Miller was a good sport upon realizing his ‘do had been undone. He finished yanking the hair piece off before the start of Round 3 and lobbed it into the seats, where WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley safeguarded it.
Zooming into Kimmel’s monologue, Miller explained that ahead of the fight, he “overdid it” with a semi-permanent hair dye called Bigen. “When I washed it out, I washed out half of my hair! It was a horrible scene, and I had to think of something fast.”
Luckily (?), Miller’s cousin knows a guy…
“He has a barber who’s really good at toupees,” Miller shared. Said barber in turn assured Miller, “I’m going to make it really strong, double reinforcement.”
After being fitted, Miller said, “I’m sizing myself up, like, ‘All right, this is going to be all right.'”
It wasn’t.
Mid-fight, “My trainer’s looking at me, giving me instructions… and he started stuttering, ‘I need you to focus’—but he’s not paying attention to me. Why does he keep looking up? Please, God, don’t tell me this toupee is coming up. I look in the Jumbotron and that’s when I finally realize, ”Oh, no, I’m screwed.”
And what about the cousin’s barber, he of the “strong, double reinforcement”?
“Honestly, I think everybody found his page, and he’s been MIA since then,” Miller reported with a laugh. “We’re going to hunt for him, we can’t get in contact with him right now.”
