Andrew Dismukes was this season’s most ultilized Saturday Night Live cast member, at least as measured by sketch appearances.
That’s according to LateNighter’s podcast partner and resident SNL stats gurus, the Saturday Night Network.
All told, Dismukes appeared in 79 sketches this season, edging out runner up Heidi Gardner by two sketches. It was Dismukes’ first time topping the show’s seasonal sketch count.
Dismukes joined the SNL cast in 2020 after three years on the show’s writing team. He now joins an elte group of just 20 other cast members in the show’s 50 year-history:
Perhaps as a result of the show welcoming back so many guest stars in the first half its milestone 50th season, Dismukes is the first cast member to top the show’s seasonal sketch count list with fewer than 80 sketches total (not counting seasons that were cut short).
Rounding out this season’s top five were Bowen Yang and James Austin Johnson at 76 sketches a piece, and Sarah Sherman, just one notch below, with 75 sketch appearances.
Kenan Thompson, who has topped the list three times himself over his two decades on the show, dropped to number nine this year. This season’s complete list follows below. There seems to be a typo in the article, as JAJ/Bowen are written as 2nd and yet Heidi is ranked above both of them in this. And Bowen/JAJ are written at 67 sketches when it is stated they were at 76 (excluding the 50th I imagine).
