Viewers across much of the country will have to wait a bit longer for the start of tonight’s Saturday Night Live with host Druski and musical guest The Strokes.
That’s because, for the fourth time this season, NBC’s college football coverage ran long, with tonight’s matchup between Miami and Notre Dame ending at 11:08 p.m. ET.
Assuming NBC follows the same plan as recent weeks, SNL will still air live at 11:30 p.m. ET on Peacock and NBC’s owned-and-operated stations. Other affiliates will have to decide whether to cut short their postgame programming or delay SNL’s start until approximately 11:40 p.m.
The game kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET from Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana.
College football overruns have become a recurring headache for SNL this fall. The Sept. 26 season premiere followed USC–Oregon, which ended 16 minutes late. The Oct. 10 episode hosted by Dakota Johnson and last week’s Halloween episode hosted by Inde Navarrette also followed games that ran past their allotted windows.
All three previous overruns involved USC, making tonight’s Miami–Notre Dame matchup the first to delay SNL without the Trojans’ help.
Druski, the comedian and social media star, is making his SNL hosting debut tonight, while The Strokes are returning for their fifth stint as musical guest. The New York rock band first appeared on the show in 2002 and last performed in 2020, alongside host John Mulaney.
