Jimmy Kimmel had some unsolicited career advice for Donald Trump Wednesday night: quit.
A day after Democrats swept control of both the House and Senate, Kimmel returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live! with the full scope of Tuesday’s midterm election results now clear—and spent much of his monologue pinning the Republican losses squarely on the president.
Kimmel took particular issue with Trump’s insistence that he shouldn’t be blamed because he “wasn’t on the ballot.”
“Oh, shut up. Just shut up,” Kimmel responded. “Give us a break for one day and shut that ridiculous mouth… You are such a spoiled child. Did you ever learn anything about manners or sportsmanship or simple common decency? Nothing is ever your fault.”
“You were on the ballot,” he continued. “You’re like dog hair, you’re on everything.”
Eventually, Kimmel arrived at what he described as the only logical next step.
“The verdict is in, and there’s only one thing left for Nappy Gilmore to do: resign,” he said. “Quit already. Just quit. Nobody wants you.”
Kimmel even had a suggestion for retirement: “Take that billion dollars’ worth of crypto, buy an island. Maybe Epstein’s island. Wouldn’t that be a perfect end to this story?”
Trump wasn’t the only member of the administration Kimmel had words for Wednesday.
The White House was asked for comment about Kimmel’s Tuesday Election Night monologue, and spokesperson Davis Ingle responded by calling him a “no-talent loser” who had “beclowned himself with tanking ratings” and was “spewing disgusting lies to his dwindling audience.”
Ingle went on to say that “nobody with any common sense would ever watch him unless it was to laugh at him.”
“Which is kind of the point of the show,” Kimmel replied.
The timing of the insult—coming a day after Republicans lost both chambers of Congress—wasn’t lost on him.
“Once again, I am a no-talent loser,” he noted. “The last thing I want to do is tell you how to do your job, Danny Dingle, but today seems like a bad day to call me a loser.
