John Oliver’s next soap stop is officially on deck—if only for a few seconds.
Days of Our Lives on Friday teased the Last Week Tonight host’s upcoming appearance, with Oliver popping up in the final seconds of a preview for next week’s episodes. The brief clip shows Oliver arriving at the office of Salem mayor Paulina Price, played by Jackée Harry—suggesting that whatever brings him to town, it runs straight through City Hall.
Oliver’s Days arc is set to air August 11, 12, and 14 on Peacock, following his three-episode turn on General Hospital last month.
Both appearances grew out of a March Last Week Tonight segment in which Oliver paid tribute to daytime soaps—and admitted to “scorching-hot jealousy” after discovering that Stephen A. Smith has been appearing on General Hospital as Brick for years. Oliver used the segment to issue an open invitation to the soap world, saying he wanted a role with a ridiculous name, something juicy to do—“like murder or slapping”—and, naturally, a dramatic close-up.
The soaps took him up on it.
Oliver later confirmed that he had taped roles on two soaps: General Hospital and Days of Our Lives. He called the latter “clearly a huge honor,” noting that the long-running soap has been home to Deidre Hall, Susan Seaforth Hayes, John Aniston, and guest stars including Dick Van Dyke and Betty White.
Now, after making his Port Charles debut as Z, the mysterious head of the World Security Bureau (WSB), Oliver is headed to Salem.
Whether Paulina Price is ready for him is another question entirely.
