First on LateNighter: Ike Barinholtz is turning his first night as guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! into a mini Mindy Project reunion.
Mindy Kaling and Fortune Feimster are both booked for Monday’s episode, bringing three members of the former Fox and Hulu comedy together nearly nine years after its series finale.
Barinholtz appeared in all six seasons of The Mindy Project as Morgan Tookers, while Feimster joined the series in its fourth season as Colette Kimball-Kinney. Kaling created, executive produced and starred in the show, which ran for 117 episodes from 2012 to 2017.
In the years since its finale, The Mindy Project has settled into a second life as a streaming comfort binge. Its move from Fox to Hulu in 2015 also made it an early example of a canceled broadcast comedy finding an extended run—and a more durable afterlife—on streaming.
Despite that staying power, The Mindy Project has not received the formal reunion treatment afforded to many other comedies of its ilk, whether it be in the form of a reunion special or cast-led rewatch podcast. Monday’s episode instead promises to offers a lower-key version: three former cast members sharing a late-night stage.
Monday will mark Barinholtz’s first time guest-hosting Kimmel, though he’s appeared on the show frequently. Barinholtz also appeared with Kaling in the 2019 film Late Night, which she wrote.
Feimster, meanwhile, is a formerJimmy Kimmel Live! guest-host herself, having appeared during the show’s 2025 summer rotation.
Barinholtz is among six guest hosts filling in during Jimmy Kimmel’s summer break. Kimmel is expected to return after Labor Day.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
