A Short Week for The Daily Show Means No Jon Stewart

The Daily Show returns from its post-holiday break tonight, but Jon Stewart fans will have to wait another week.

With no new episode last night following the Fourth of July holiday, Stewart—who continues to anchor the show’s Monday broadcasts—won’t be behind the desk this week. Instead, Ronny Chieng will host a three-night run beginning tonight.

Chieng’s first guest back is Ann M. Martin, the author best known for creating The Baby-sitters Club, who will be promoting The Baby-sitters Club Fan Edition: Baby-sitter Summer. On Wednesday, Chieng will welcome Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval. The week wraps Thursday with Michelle Buteau, who is promoting the Netflix series Survival of the Thickest.

With this week’s run, Chieng joins Michael Kosta and Josh Johnson at four hosting weeks in 2026. Desi Lydic and Jordan Klepper have both hosted five weeks, putting them at the front of the show’s rotating correspondent-host pack for the year so far.  Chieng last hosted the week of May 18.

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
