Colman Domingo to Guest Host Jimmy Kimmel Live! This Summer

Jimmy Kimmel has revealed another name on this summer’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest-host roster: Colman Domingo.

During Domingo’s appearance on Tuesday night’s show, Kimmel thanked the Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated actor “in advance” for filling in as guest host the week of July 20.

“Since you’re here, I figured maybe we would have a little toast,” Kimmel said, bringing out Guillermo Rodriguez with tequila. “You and Guillermo are going to be working very closely together.”

“Congratulations on your film with Steven Spielberg. Avenging Zendaya. Jumping out of a plane for the first time. Rappelling down the side of a mountain,” Kimmel said, before adding, “Am I forgetting anything? Oh, hosting this show, the biggest thing.”

Domingo’s booking makes him the second of this summer’s confirmed guest hosts. (Anthony Anderson, Kimmel’s most frequent guest host, is also set to return.)

Kimmel’s annual summer hiatus has become a regular part of Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s calendar in recent years. Kimmel first began taking summers off during the pandemic in 2020, explaining at the time, “There’s nothing wrong, I’m healthy, my family’s healthy. I just need a couple of months off.”

Over the years, Kimmel’s guest-host bench has included Martin Short, Dana Carvey, Chelsea Handler, Jeff Goldblum, RuPaul, Nikki Glaser, David Alan Grier, Al Franken, Rob McElhenney, Desus Nice, Joel McHale, George Lopez, Lamorne Morris, Sean Hayes, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Nicole Byer, Kerry Washington, and Simu Liu.

ABC has yet to officially announce when Kimmel’s 2026 summer break will begin, though he’s expected to host through next Thursday, June 18, with the show then taking a two-week break before returning with guest hosts Tuesday, July 7.
