Watch: Jon Stewart Has a Bone to Pick With Tim Walz

When it comes to Dick Cheney, Jon Stewart isn’t willing to let bygones be bygones. Even when he’s managed to score an interview with the current Democratic nominee for vice president

Stewart covered a lot of ground with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on The Daily Show Monday night, with the host making no secret of his support for the Harris-Walz ticket.

But that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to challenge Walz on at least one topic: the Harris  campaign’s embrace of the former VP’s endorsement.

“The Cheney thing, do we really have to do that?” Stewart asked Walz.

“Look, it goes broader than that,” Walz responded. “Bernie Sanders. Dick Cheney. Taylor Swift…”

“No, no, no, no, no…” Stewart said, interrupting Walz.

“What,” asked Walz. “Having the Cheneys on board?”

“Yeah. You can’t ‘Dick Cheney or Taylor Swift.’” responded Stewart. “What country did Taylor Swift get us to invade? No!”

Stewart has been a longtime and frequent critic of Dick Cheney, who’s widely perceived to be the primary architect of George W Bush’s 2003 invasion of Iraq under false pretenses.

Last month, Stewart roasted the former VP’s endorsement of Harris on The Daily Show, telling Cheney to “F*ck off. Seriously, f*ck off! You came this close to destroying the entire world! We were this close, closer than a teenage boy’s pants at — no! I’m not going to have any fun with this.”

For his part, Walz explained to Stewart Monday night that it was important for Dick and Liz Cheney to give Reagan Republicans permission to cross party lines. “We’re not going to take their foreign policy decisions and discussions, you know, and implement those,” he explained.

“Promise?” asked Stewart.

“Yes, promise,” responded Walz, to cheers from the crowd.

Walz’s visit with Stewart Monday night was his second late-night talk show appearance in as many weeks. The Minnesota Governor guested with Jimmy Kimmel on October 7th.
