Donald Trump is set to pick up where Stephen Colbert left off when he hosts the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors this December.
It will mark the first time a president has hosted the event. In recent years, the black-tie ceremony has been emceed by Queen Latifah, Gloria Estefan, and—from 2014–2016—Colbert.
Earlier this year, Trump appointed himself Chairman of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees, removing previously appointed board members, including the chair and president.

Trump previewed the announcement in a Truth Social post Tuesday night, writing, “GREAT Nominees for the TRUMP/KENNEDY CENTER, whoops, I mean, KENNEDY CENTER, AWARDS.”
The Kennedy Center Honors ceremony is traditionally taped in early December and aired later in the month. CBS will broadcast this year’s event, Trump on the same network as one of his chief late-night nemeses.
