Stephen Colbert is taking a one-week break, with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert set to air repeats through Friday October 10.
It’s the first scheduled break since The Late Show’s Season 11 launch on September 2—a typical mid-fall pause that gives the staff time to reset before the next production block.
Not to worry, though. Late-night viewers will still have plenty to chew on this week, with Colbert’s 11:35pm counterparts The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live! producing new episodes, while NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show are also up this week.
New episodes of The Late Show resume next Monday, October 13.
Though Colbert’s days on CBS are numbered—he’s set to tape his series finale in May 2026—he told reporters last month that he has “nothing else” on his mind beyond his final nine months on The Late Show, adding, “I want to land this plane absolutely beautifully.”
His comments came shortly after The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won its first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series, a milestone that underscored the show’s late-run momentum heading into its final chapter.

I don’t think Colbert has ever been salty (and if he was it more for jokes), and he and Kimmel have been closer allies after the Brooklyn shows, but there’s definitely some self-projection of saltiness from Roscillo and your comments.

They were just off for summer break, it seems like every other month the show is off , I was an avid fan but I will watch Kimmel instead.

CBS/Paramount is making a big mistake. They have already canceled 2 of my favorite shows, SWAT and The Neighborhood, canceling Stephen’s show is the 3rd and final strike for me I will cancel my monthly subscription when the last 2 no longer air and will boycot CBS
Stephen Colbert & his team took off months in the summertime. We’re only now in the week of Oct. 6-10 & they’re off AGAIN. I have read something to the effect: ‘they have to reset’. Reset? Stephen…you’re only going to be working for another 8 months, right? You & your team will have LOTS of time then to “reset”. There is so much going on in the news & your listeners miss you & are suffering with “TDS” (Trump Derangement Syndrome). Please stop taking such long breaks (why don’t you just take off Fridays, or Mondays for an extended week end if you need that & work the week days?) Whatever. Just my input.
