The Daily Show Is an Anthem Award Finalist for Its Social Impact

Can late-night television make a real-world difference? According to the organizers of the Anthem Awards, the answer is a resounding yes.

On Tuesday morning, The Hollywood Reporter had the exclusive rundown of finalists for this year’s Anthem Awards. An offshoot of The Webby Awards, the Anthems recognize individuals, companies, and organizations around the world “that spark global change.” The Daily Show is a finalist in the Human & Civil Rights – Awareness category.

“The Anthem Awards shine a spotlight on those who are not just dreaming of a better world, but actively creating it,” said Anthem Awards general manager Patricia McLoughlin in a statement. “The inspiring work of Anthem Finalists serves as a beacon of hope and positivity amid challenging times, and I encourage everyone to support their remarkable work through Anthem Community Voice, reinforcing our collective mission to uplift those who are making a difference.”

The public is encouraged to log on to the Anthem Awards website and show their support for the nominees who have made the biggest impact in their own lives. While the finalists with the greatest number of votes from the public will receive an Anthem Community Voice Award, both the finalists and winners are ultimately decided by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. This year’s finalists were chosen from 2,300 submissions from 34 countries.

While this marks Jon Stewart’s first go-around with the Anthem Awards, it’s not The Daily Show’s first time being recognized. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah was a finalist at the inaugural awards in 2022 and a winner of the 2023 awards (which were announced in January of this year).

Public voting will continue through Thursday, October 31. The 2024 Anthem Award winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 19.
