Stephen Colbert’s 2024 Holiday Cartoon Stars Elon Musk and Brain Worms

TV’s newest heartwarming holiday classic is a story about Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and RFK Jr’s brain worms.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert aired its annual holiday cartoon Thursday night, which took viewers from Santa’s workshop to a Roman coliseum. (Well, a MAGA-lopolis coliseum.)

The show’s new ten-minute short, titled “It’s a Worm-derful Life,” kicks off with Santa hearing the touching story of a family that’s running out of food as Christmastime approaches—that family being the worms in Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s brain, who have nearly finished devouring his gray matter.

Before he can help, Santa is kidnapped by Elon Musk and his Department of Universal Christmas Holiday Efficiency—DOUCHE for short—and brought to a coliseum. There, Trump forces Santa to either remove him from the naughty list, or face execution (by shark and holiday light electrocution, naturally).

The new short — directed by Matt Lappin and Tim Luecke, who co-wrote with Jay Katsir—is the latest installment in what’s become an annual tradition for Colbert’s Late Show. The show has released satirical holiday-themed cartoons each year since 2018.

Comedian Matt Friend voiced Trump, RFK Jr., Mitch McConnell, and Hunter Biden. The short also features cartoon depictions of Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Wolf Blitzer among others.

Colbert’s last Late Show before a two-week holiday break wrapped up with a performance by his house band, Louis Cato and the Late Show band, who played a new original holiday tune “This Time of Year.”

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert returns with new episodes Monday, January 6th, 2025.
