Rosebud Baker is taking her act to Netflix. The three-year veteran of Saturday Night Live‘s writer’s room is set to release a new standup special that sees her discussing pregnancy and parenthood next month.
The Mother Lode takes a unique approach, cutting between two separate shows Baker performed at New York’s Comedy Cellar: one before she gave birth, and one after.
“If you have kids, this special is for you. If you absolutely do not want kids, this special is also for you,” Baker told Deadline, which first reported on the new special Wednesday.
Baker’s debut comedy special, Whiskey Fists, was released by Comedy Central in 2021.
The comic also steps behind the camera for her sophomore effort, making her directorial debut on the special.
Baker joined the SNL writer’s room in 2022, midway through Season 47. Ahead of Season 50, she began writing for Weekend Update.
She memorably released an Instagram video featuring much of the SNL cast ahead of her 2024 summer tour. No word yet on whether of her colleagues from the show pop up on the special, but several have chimed in with praise for Baker ahead of her Netflix debut.
“Rosebud Baker is the funniest person and was my partner in crime at SNL,” former cast member Molly Kearney wrote in an Instagram Reel. “I adore all she does. Cannot wait for this.” Chloe Fineman and Bobby Moynihan also showed their support in comments.
The Mother Lode premieres on Netflix February 18, 2025.
