SNL to Close Out Season 50 With Hosts Walton Goggins, Scarlett Johansson

Saturday Night Live is rounding out its landmark 50th season with its last two host and musical guest announcements—and one of them is bound to spur some speculation about one cast member’s fate.

As previously revealed during April 12’s Jon Hamm/Lizzo episode, the next new SNL will come on May 3 with returning host Quinta Brunson and debut musical guest Benson Boone.

Now the show has revealed that Walton Goggins will make his hosting debut on May 10. Goggins became a fan-favorite character in the third season of The White Lotus, which just wrapped its run. He also stars in The Righteous Gemstones. Currently in its last season, he’ll be hosting SNL just six days after the series finale of the HBO show.

Goggins’ episode will see Arcade Fire returning for the sixth time as musical guest. Their appearance comes one day after the release of their seventh record, Pink Elephant.

But it’s the Season 50 finale host that might get fans buzzing the most. SNL has tapped Scarlett Johansson to do the honors on May 17.

Johansson will next be seen in The Phoenician Scheme (May 30) and Jurassic World Rebirth (July 2)—and will be hosting the show for the seventh time. Of course, she’s also the wife of longtime writer and Weekend Update host Colin Jost, who along with Michael Che, has been the subject of speculation about whether he’ll exit SNL after this season.

With Johansson hosting, it would certainly give SNL a unique opportunity to give Jost a special sendoff. However, that likely wouldn’t be revealed until the time comes.

Johansson was last seen on the show in its most recent episode, appearing in the now somewhat controversial White Lotus send-up The White POTUS as Ivanka Trump.

Joining Johansson as musical guest will be another SNL fan-favorite, Bad Bunny, in his third stint as musical guest. (For the last one, he pulled double duty, also hosting the October 2023 episode.)
