The last two SNLs of the season will see three returning guests and one newcomer.
Former cast member Maya Rudolph will return to the program as host on May 11th, the penultimate episode of season 49. Rudolph has hosted twice since leaving the show in 2007, and is currently promoting her starring role in the Apple TV+ series Loot. She first joined SNL in 2000.
Rudolph follows Kristen Wiig as the latest SNL alum to return to the show as host. Wiig joined the Five-Timers Club when she hosted on April 6th.
Joining Rudolph on the 11th will be musical guest Vampire Weekend, who released their fifth album, “Only God Was Above Us,” last month. They’re no strangers to Studio 8H either, having played three times before.
SNL’s season finale will air a week later, with Jake Gyllenhaal tackling hosting duties. Like Rudolph, it will be his third turn as host. Gyllenhaal is fresh off his starring role in the film Road House. He also has the upcoming Apple TV+ series Presumed Innocent premiering in June.
The finale’s musical guest will be a newcomer to the show: Sabrina Carpenter. The musician and actress just scored her first top-10 song on the Billboard Hot 100 last month with her single “Espresso.”
SNL returns from a two-week break this weekend with Dua Lipa pulling double duty as host and musical guest — giving viewers back-to-back-to-back new episodes ahead of the show’s 50th anniversary.
