Connor Storrie Starts a New ‘Heated Rivalry’ in SNL Promo

Connor Storrie is making enemies in the lead-up to his Saturday Night Live debut.

The Heated Rivalry star squares off against James Austin Johnson in a just-released promo for this weekend’s episode, trading in his hockey gear for a cowboy hat.

The promo starts out as all love, with Marcello Hernández and Ashley Padilla praising Storrie’s performance in Heated Rivalry, the Canadian hockey-centered romantic drama that’s hit pop culture by storm since debuting in November. (SNL already lampooned the show last month, mashing it up with Harry Potter for “Heated Wizardry.”)

Padilla admits she was “completely dehydrated” by the finale of the steamy show, while Hernández singles out the actor’s “awesome” Russian accent.

“I actually do all kinds of accents,” Storrie reveals.

The comment prompts a Western-attired Johnson, SNL’s ace impressionist, to defend his territory. “I reckon this here show ain’t big enough for the both of us,” he says as things get cinematic. Storrie throws on his own cowboy hat, ready to duel.

Padilla and Hernández call out accents for the newly minted rivals to attempt, from German and Cajun to Shakespeare and “Shakespeare but bad.”

In the end, it’s Storrie’s Russian accent that does in Johnson, leaving the repertory player dead and his castmates in mourning.

Storrie is set to make his SNL debut this Saturday, making him one of the freshest faces to ever host the show. Mumford & Sons will serve as musical guest for the fourth time—their first appearance on the show in over seven years.

Storrie’s SNL debut airs Saturday, February 25.
