Sarah Sherman is a young boy who accidentally got an eye-popping peek at his dad and stepmon having sex, in a cut-at-dress rehearsal sketch from the latest Saturday Night Live.
As seen in the newly released video above, James Austin Johnson and host Teyana Taylor play marrieds who, during their morning-after post-mortem of a night of mind-blowing sexcapades, worry that the former’s son, Benny, remembers walking in on them during.
Dad shrugs off his wife’s concern, but when Benny (played by Sherman) comes downstairs to the kitchen, it is instantly apparent that the kid saw way too damn much.
For breakfast, “Could I have a bowl of nothing?” bug-eyed Benny meekly asks. “For some strange reason, I’ve lost my appetite. Forever.”
Mistaking Benny for feeling under the weather, Dad suggests a jolt of orange juice, saying, “That vitamin C will get you back on top.” The last words there, “on top,” echo inside Benny’s bean as the lad recalls his dad and stepmom considering assorted sexual positions.
Benny then excuses himself to take his fourth shower since bedtime, given that he still feels “so unclean” and all.
Rounding out the cut-at-dress sketch—which evokes Sherman’s October 2022 “googly eyes” workplace sketch— Ben Marshall shows up as a second shell-shocked son, Eric, who’s also sporting popped peepers and came seeking a toaster to throw into the bath tub with him, while Kenan Thompson plays a telescope-toting neighbor who last night spied Uranus as well as “your two B-holes,” and thus has a singular bulged orb.
Also, Benny returns downstairs, suddenly changed into a clergyman’s collar and devoting his life to God—until a “her piece” (of toast)/”herpes” homophone rattles the kid anew. Benny in turn yanks off his collar, having decided,”There is no God.”
NBC’s SNL continues Season 51 this Saturday with its 1,000th episode, hosted by Alexander Skarsgård and featuring musical guest Cardi B.
If I had to guess, this was a Sherman-driven sketch, and her main project for the week, considering she ended up not being in nearly anything else for the 2nd week in a row besides the Martin pre-filmed sketch. Knowing Sherman she probably worked backwards from wanting to wear the googly-eyes and went from there. Sherman has had a really solid run on SNL and feels like she still has another level of range she can reach but she can’t seem to get there. Likes to go back to tried and true methods like getting creative with the prop department. I’d like to see her try and explore some other areas and see what she’s fully capable of.
