Former Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Troast is hosting a brand-new web series launching this Tuesday on YouTube.
Spilling Your Seed with Chloe Troast, a parody of genealogy shows like Finding Your Roots and Who Do You Think You Are?, sees Troast play an amateur genealogist guiding fellow comedians through their dubious family histories.
“Using genetic analysis, archival research, and really good guesses, we’re uncovering the most important story of all: history,” Troast says in the show’s just-released trailer. “This is not just an interview show,” she adds. “It’s a huge, expensive career pivot for me, and now I couldn’t be more excited to dedicate my life to genealogical research and YouTube monetization strategies.”
In one of SNL’s more surprising cuts in recent memory, Troast left the legendary sketch show in September 2024 after just one year. The sole addition to the cast for its 49th season, she appeared to quickly find her groove, breaking out just a month into her run when she conceived and starred in “Little Orphan Cassidy,” a sketch that saw her sing a duet with the moon (played by Timothée Chalamet).
The new project reunites Troast with former SNL collaborator John Higgins, a member of Please Don’t Destroy and co-founder of Lisa, the production company behind Spilling Your Seed.
Troast has been a frequent collaborator with Please Don’t Destroy, appearing in their Peacock film Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain and often joining them on the improv stage in New York City.
Ben Marshall, another member of the comedy troupe (and a newly hired SNL featured player), is set to appear as a guest on Spilling Your Seed alongside Grace Reiter, Sienna Hubert-Ross, Aaron Chen, Jake Cornell, and Ivy Wolk.
Episodes of Spilling Your Seed with Chloe Troast debut Tuesday, Nov. 11, on YouTube.
