If you believe the word on the street, this weekend’s Saturday Night Live may be Colin Jost ‘s last as a regular cast member, but that’s not stopping him from reigning terror over the show. At least that’s the impression his wife Scarlett Johansson gives in a new promo.
Saturday Night Live is teasing its season finale with a Jurassic World-inspired promo that begins with cast members Mikey Day and Heidi Gardner casually chatting in the halls outside Studio 8H when they’re interrupted by an blaring alarm, leading Johansson to rush through and frantically seal the doors of the studio. Turns out it’s not a dinosaur she’s running from: it’s her husband.
In a jump-scare, Jost appears behind his wife. “Hey, babe. I had a sketch idea I wanted to pitch you,” he says. “Maybe it’s one where we, I don’t know, finally kiss?”
As Johansson screams in terror, Jost receives a dart in his neck courtesy of Sarah Sherman. Asked by Johansson whether it was a traquilizer dart or something more sinister, Sherman isn’t sure. “Che just handed this to me and said ‘Take care of Jost,’” she says of Michael Che, Jost’s co-anchor and frequent on-air foe.
Jost has been racking up screen time beyond his usual “Weekend Update” duties in recent weeks, leading to heightened speculation that this Saturday’s show will be his last episode. With his wife hosting, the pieces are certainly all in place for a sendoff should one be needed.
Johansson hosts the Season 50 finale of SNL with musical guest Bad Bunny this Saturday, May 17 on NBC.
