With her appearance in tonight’s monologue, Sarah Sherman has officially appeared in 200 Saturday Night Live sketches.
That’s according to Jon Schneider of LateNighter’s podcast partner The Saturday Night Network, which meticulously tracks the sketch counts of all SNL cast members past and present.
As Schneider points out, Sherman is the 81st cast member to cross the 200 sketch milestone. Still, she’s got a ways to go before she catches up with several of her fellow cast current members; Mikey Day and Heidi Gardner are both in the 500+ sketch club, as is Kenan Thompson, who topped the chart going into tonight’s episode with 1725 sketch appearances. (The SNN doesn not count cut-for-time sketches and anything else that doesn’t appear on the live show in their total sketch counts.)
Sherman is in her 4th year on the SNL cast. She first joined the show as a featured player at the beginning of Season 47. Her first onscreen appearance came on October 2nd, 2021, in the sketch “School Board Meeting,” in which she delivered just two lines of dialogue.
It was later in that same episode, in “Stool Test Advert,” that she first headlined a sketch. The ten-to-one sketch teamed Sherman with Andrew Dismukes as a husband and wife doctor team who tape a commercial for their mail-in stool sample testing service that goes a bit sideways. The sketch can be viewed in its entirety below:
Sherman (aka Sarah Squirm) has become one of SNL’s most utilized regular players this season. In fact, as of this writing, she’s found herself at the top of LateNighter’s weekly screen time rankings three times this season, more than any of her fellow castmates.
