Weekly Ratings: Kimmel, Fallon Flip Script on Colbert

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night live-plus-three weekly ratings on a three (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

The one-two punch of a dark week for Stephen Colbert and an NCAA basketball time delay on CBS Thursday and Friday nights helped Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon score a pair of ratings victories the week starting March 16, 2025.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! pulled in the highest nightly average among total viewers at 11:35pm with 1.7 million viewers, while NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon came in second at 1.2 million viewers. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert , which aired repeats all week and was delayed by over an hour on Thursday and Friday nights, came in third with 1.1 million viewers. (That was down nearly -47% vs a week of new shows the week prior.)

Colbert fared better among viewers aged 18-49, where The Late Show shared top honors with The Tonight Show, with both shows tied at 188,00 viewers in the demo (Kimmel came in third at 144,000.)

Like Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers was also on break last week, but fared better against his 12:37am competiton, beating After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson and Nightline across both key audience measurements, albeit by slimmer margins than the show has seen in recent weeks.

Switching to cable, Gutfeld! on Fox News continued to command the 10pm hour, drawing a nightly total viewer average of 3.5 million viewers (down just slightly from the week prior). Watch What Happens Live, meanwhile, logged the greatest gains among total viewers, up +20% week over week.

The Daily Show returned from its own mid-winter break last week, declining by less than 1% among total viewers, and by about -8% among young viewers compared to its most recent week of shows starting March 2nd. (Comedy Central generally doesn’t air repeats of The Daily Show when it’s on break).
