After taking Thanksgiving week off, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson returned with new episodes on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, with both shows seeing strong ratings rebounds for their efforts.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Colbert took the top spot at 11:35 p.m., drawing 1,756,000 total viewers, and 230,000 viewers in the key 18-49 demo. Week-over-week, that’s up 45% in across measures.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon split second place, with Kimmel the runner-up among total viewers, and Fallon among viewers in the demo. Both shows saw week-over-week decreases, but without a Monday Night Football lead-in, Kimmel (and Nightline after it) saw the greatest declines, especially among younger viewers.
At 12:35 a.m., Nightline was #1 among total viewers, while After Midnight ruled the roost among viewers 18-49. NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers saw declines as it began a week of repeats.
The Daily Show returned Monday night from a week-long break with Jon Stewart back at the helm. Compared to its most recent Monday night episode (Monday November 18th, 2024), the show was -6% among total viewers, and flat in the demo.
