First on LateNighter: NBC has alerted its affiliates that SNL50: The Anniversary Special will end after its originally scheduled 11pm ET end time.
The show now has an estimated end time of 11:15pm ET.
As we’ve previously reported, the three-hour-plus primetime special is set to feature at least three dozen SNL cast members and past hosts, with several hundred more filling the audience (an extra two hundred seats have been added for the occasion).
The show will also be welcoming not one but seven musical guests, with Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter, Lil Wayne, Brittany Howard, and The Roots are all set to take the the stage in Studio 8H.
And as they say on TV, that’s not all… SNL, of course, is famous for its unannounced guests and tonight won’t be an exception, with producers promising more surprise guests.
The clip-filled special will include several live sketches (possible spoilers here and here). As we’ve previously reported, those sketches are being penned by an all-star writer’s room that includes the likes of Tina Fey, Seth Meyers, John Mulaney, and Paula Pell.
SNL50: The Anniversary Special airs on NBC and Peacock tonight starting at 8 ET / 5pm PT. It will be preceded by a one-hour red carpet special.
